Rookery is a private household care app. If you are using it, somebody in your household set it up and gave you a way in.

Signing in

There is no password. A household member sends you a link, or shows you a code to scan, or you receive a six digit code by email. Once you are in, you can turn on Face ID under More, then Settings, and after that signing in takes nothing at all.

A sign-in link works once. If it stopped working, ask for another; they cost nothing.

The emergency card

The red button at the top of every screen opens the emergency numbers and the house address. It works with no signal and without signing in, once the phone has opened it once. If it ever shows a spinner or an empty screen, that is a fault and we want to hear about it.

Location

Location is shared only while you are clocked in, and only if you allow it. You can switch it off under More, then Settings, and nobody in the household can switch it back on for you.

What is recorded during a shift is kept with that shift rather than deleted after a few days. It is there to answer a question about where the child was, such as an exposure notice naming a place and a time. It is not used to judge your work, and you can see exactly what is held about you.
